ICT is one of the Commissions of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and promotes application of tracer techniques in all branches of hydrology.

Tracers are substances occurring in the environment naturally or introduced by men whose spatial and temporal differentiation is used to infer information on the pathways and dynamics of water and solutes movement in surface and ground water.
