INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON SNOW AND ICE HYDROLOGY

WELCOME

The International Commission for Snow and Ice Hydrology (ICSIH) is a commission of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). The goal of the International Commission on Snow and Ice Hydrology is to promote the scientific study of the processes of snow, permafrost and ice dynamics, the interactions between snow, permafrost and ice and ecosystems, and impact of snow, permafrost and ice on runoff generation, rivers and lakes, with an emphasis on the seasons and regions where the solid phase of water and its subsequent runoff are prevalent.

The former IAHS International Commission on Snow and Ice (ICSI) became the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), and a full IUGG Association in 2007. ICSIH is a new IAHS commission that was launched during the IAHS Assembly in 2005.
