STAHY 2027 - Save The Date

September 2026

We are pleased to announce that the STAHY Workshop will return in 2027!

Organized by the International Commission on Statistical Hydrology (ICSH) of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), STAHY brings together researchers and practitioners interested in the broad fields of statistical hydrology and data science.

The workshop welcomes contributions covering a wide and inclusive range of topics, including statistical and stochastic methods, hydrological extremes, time-series and spatial analysis, uncertainty assessment, data-driven modelling, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to hydrological data and applications.

This will be a particularly special edition, as we celebrate 20 years since the establishment of STAHY. To mark this important anniversary, we have chosen an equally special setting: Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Located at the crossroads of regions, cultures and scientific communities, Uzbekistan offers an ideal setting in which to celebrate IAHS’s mission of promoting inclusive international collaboration and knowledge exchange in hydrological sciences.

For this anniversary edition, we are delighted to collaborate with two important scientific communities:

  • EVAN — Advances in Extreme Value Analysis and Application to Natural Hazards
  • GRASPA — Research Group for Statistical Applications to Environmental Problems, a permanent group of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS)

We also extend our sincere thanks to Samarkand Agroinnovations and Research University (SamATI) and Università degli Studi della Tuscia for their invaluable local, logistical and organizational support.

  • Samarkand, Uzbekistan
  • 20–22 September 2027

The First Circular will be released next month, with further information about the scientific programme, important dates and abstract submission.

Save the date and stay tuned!
