Participate and arrange in-person meetings: Conferences, Workshops, Symposia, etc.
In our Calendar you will find planned meetings to join and you can contact the IAHS secretariat if you want to arrange a meeting under the IAHS label. Please consult the IAHS brand guide (coming soon) in advance.
Contribute to International Commissions and Scientific Decades
Various hydrological subdisciplines have their own commissions who organise sessions, workshops and collaborative work (e.g. synthesis, reviews, opinion papers). You may contact the members in a commission, attend their events, meet with them at IAHS General or Scientific Assemblies, and be nominated to join. In addition, Scientific Decades are launched so that coherent engagement, sharing and focus accelerate scientific knowledge and understanding of a specific hydrological problem or phenomena. Each decade has its own organisation and process where you can participate.
Engage in Working Groups and Committees
Temporary working groups may be established on members initiatives to explore a specific theme and if the activities become more permanent, it can evolve into an International Commission. Regional committees connect people in a certain geographical domain in site specific research. You may initiate a working group or regional committee by contacting the IAHS secretariat.
Share results for Unsolved Problems in Hydrology (UPH)
In a community effort, IAHS compiled a list of Unsolved Problems in Hydrology (UPH) to revolutionise research in the 21st Century and raise the level of excitement for the science. If you tune your research towards those you will find many colleagues to discuss with in IAHS meetings and publications.
Apply for Grants to attend IAHS meetings
IAHS offers grants to selected Early Career Scientists from a Financially Disadvantaged Countries every year to boost inclusiveness. If you are eligible, you can apply by following the SYSTA procedure.
Subscribe to e-news on community achievements and happenings
Most communication of IAHS news and information to IAHS members is by email. When becoming a member of IAHS you can chose to receive these e-news to keep track of events and community achievements.
Publish in HSJ and PIAHS
Currently, IAHS press runs two publications; the Hydrological Sciences Journal (HSJ) and the Proceedings of IAHS (PIAHS). You can submit manuscripts and initiate a special issue in PIAHS after agreement with the Editor-in-chief. Previous book series can be searched for free pdf of papers and purchased online. You can also volunteer to become a co-editor or reviewer of manuscripts by contacting the editorial team.
Publish case-studies and share information through the Digital Water Globe
You can get visibility by uploading case-studies, personal profile, IAHS references and links to data repositories on a global map with geographical position and key-words for others to find you by filtering functions. You can also volunteer to become co-editor to manage the content assurance by contacting the IAHS secretariat.
Nominate/receive Medals and Awards
Every year IAHS recognises eminent scientists for their outstanding research after nominations from the community. Two medals (Dooge and Volker medals) are provided for the International Hydrology Prize, one award is given to an outstanding IAHS paper by a young scientist (Tison Award) and one award is given to the best PhD-thesis from a financially disadvantaged country (Falkenmark Award). You can show appreciation to your colleagues by nominating and you can get recognition by receiving an award.
Contribute to international processes with sister organisations
IAHS has a long tradition of close collaboration with UN organisations (e.g. WMO, Unesco-IHP, UN Water) and is often contacted for expert judgements or events. Likewise, IAHS cooperate with EGU and AGU on conference sessions.

If you represent IAHS, you may use the IAHS templates and logos according to the IAHS brand guide. The IAHS secretariat will help you with guidance, permissions and instructions.
