Transports & Flights
Direct Flights: Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) is serviced by flights from Harare, Bulawayo, Johannesburg, and other regional hubs.
Domestic Options:
Harare → Victoria Falls: ~1hour flight.
Bulawayo → Victoria Falls: ~45minutes flight.
Road Travel: Driving from Harare takes more than 13 hours (707 km). Long-distance buses are available but can be less comfortable over the long distance. Some sections of the road have ongoing construction works, which may delay the traffic.
Local Transport: Hotels and lodges often provide or can arrange transfers. Taxis and shuttle services are reliable within Victoria Falls town.
Weather & Climate
July is mid-winter in Zimbabwe, making it one of the coolest months of the year:
Average High: ~25°C (77°F). Average Low: ~11°C (52°F).
Conditions: Dry, clear skies, no rainfall—excellent for sightseeing and safaris.
Packing Tips: Light jackets for mornings/evenings, breathable clothing for daytime, sunscreen for strong UV.
Security Issues
Zimbabwe is generally safe for tourists, especially in Victoria Falls, which is highly policed and tourism-focused.
Crime: Petty theft can occur—avoid displaying valuables.
Health & Safety: Carry USD cash/Visa/Master card, use registered taxis, and ensure travel insurance covers medical emergencies.
